TeleGroups

TeleGroups work much like conference calls, it’s just that there could be anywhere from 2 to 20 to 200 participants, and amazingly it all works and makes for a great discussion. After signing up for an upcoming telegroup Q&A, you’ll receive an email with the information on what number to call and what access code to use similar to this:

  • Subject:    How Do I Learn to Trust My Spouse Again?
  • Date:    Tuesday, July 20, 2010
  • Start Time:    12:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time
  • Dial-in Number:    1-xxx-xxx-xxxx
  • Access Code:    xxxxx

When you first dial in, you’ll hear music on hold until the telegroup session begins. You can use the following keypad controls during the call:

  • Press *3 to turn music on hold on/off
  • Press *6 to mute/unmute yourself
  • Press *0 to exit the call, or just hang up

If you call and the line rings busy, simply hang up and call again. For the first 30 minutes of the call, all phone lines except mine will be on mute while I present some background information and my thoughts and insights on our topic of discussion. Mine should be the only other voice you hear on the line until we enter the Q&A discussion phase.

As I transition into the open discussion portion of the call, you will be able to unmute your phone to ask a question or make a comment by entering *6 on your phone keypad. Please enter *6 again after you’ve asked your question or made your comment to mute your phone and help cut down on the background noise until you have another question or comment to make.

To keep things orderly and ensure confidentiality and anonymity throughout this call, please introduce yourself using first name only when asking a question or making a comment. For example, “This is Susan…” or “Susan here,…” If you’re one of several trying to talk at the same time, pause and give others a chance to speak. I promise everyone who wants to speak will be given that opportunity. And, of course, no profanity or inappropriate sharing. Keep questions or comments “Twitter short” – no long diatribes or I’ll politely cut you off.

Regarding anonymity, if you’re still hesitant to ask a question or comment because you think someone (a controlling partner, nosy friend, etc.) could be on the call and might recognize your voice, you can email your question or comment to me either before or during the call and I’ll do everything I can to address it during our discussion. If you have a very specific problem or involved issue that you’d like to discuss with me, probably best to schedule a one-on-one mentoring session.

We normally record all of our telegroups and make them available for free to our paid participants of that particular session, and for purchase by others who didn’t attend but are interested in the subject matter. The only exceptions are the 1st Step TeleGroup Q&A’s due to the fact that we realize many participants are taking a bold first step towards getting help and may not want their questions or comments recorded for others to hear. So those sessions are NOT recorded and will not be available for purchase after the fact.

And that’s really all there is to it. You should try it out sometime. The information shared and dialogue that follows just might change your life!
